Ok folks, we all know we like to read and tweet so we're joining the two together and starting our own Twitter Book Club...to be complimented with this blog so we can expand our thoughts past 140 characters :) When we're voting on which book to read I'll also use this blog to post a description on the book so you know what you're getting into ;)
Our first order of business will be to pick a book and set a date for when we must have it completed by. Then we can share our thoughts on twitter with the hashtag #twreaders and we can also come on here to post lengthier comments on the book.
Feel free to invite anyone you want, I've made the blog open to accept comments for anyone - not just members.
Please pass along your suggestions to improve the site (I put this together in 5 spare minutes so it's rough!) and as well your suggestions for our 1st book!
J
If we can pick a book over the next day or two, then I think we should give ourselves 4 weeks to read it - is that fair?
ReplyDeleteHas anyone read "The Custodian of Paradise" by Wayne Johnston? It has been on my To Read list for a while. Came recommended by Laurie Greenwood on Global (that woman costs me more money by recommending great books! :) Sheesh!)
ReplyDeleteSounds fair to me. The only issue that I have it that is has to be available through Amazon and in an eReader format. Most books are :) I can check once one is suggested.
ReplyDeleteThanks again for setting this up!!
Looks like The Custodian of Paradise is the second book in that series. The Colony of Unrequited Dream was the first. Crap! I don't see it in Kindle format
ReplyDeleteOkay, back to the drawing board. :) Next? (I didn't know that was the 2nd in the series. Thanks!)
ReplyDeleteHas anyone heard of this one, it's fairly long though at 600 pages:
ReplyDeleteThe Warmth of Other Suns - Isabel Wilkerson
Or what about this one? Anyone know anything about it:
Skippy Dies: A Novel - Paul Murray
These are just 2 I found on Amazon, there's a ton to pick from so let's get a few more suggestions and get picking!
I'm willing to read anything! I wouldn't mind buying the Sentimentalist (getting rave reviews) or one of Trina Lee's novels (if it's in hard copy). Thanks so much for setting this up Jody...I smell twreader success!
ReplyDeleteGreat suggestions! But just in the interest of adding some selections to the mix, I'm adding "Sandcastles" by Luanne Rice to the suggestion pile. :)
ReplyDeleteAny more suggestions before we start voting on the following?
ReplyDeleteThe Warmth of Other Suns - Isabel Wilkerson
Skippy Dies: A Novel - Paul Murray
Sentimentalist
"Sandcastles" by Luanne Rice
or one of Trina Lee's novels
Sentimentalists sounds good but I'd also like to check out one of Trina Lee's books too.
